Your experience begins by joining us for our daily routine, helping to feed, groom, wash and prepare our magnificent working Shire horses for harness. You’ll learn about the traditional harness, how it is fitted, and the essential commands used when working these beautiful horses.
With guidance from our experienced team, you’ll then have the opportunity to put your new skills into practice by long reining a Shire horse through a series of obstacles before heading into the woodland. There, you’ll enjoy the truly unique experience of long reining a Shire horse through the beautiful Dartmoor landscape, building confidence and a genuine connection with your horse along the way.
To finish your experience, sit back and relax on a traditional Shire horse and carriage ride. Depending on the day, you’ll enjoy either a scenic journey through the picturesque village of North Bovey or a peaceful carriage ride through our beautiful deer park, offering a wonderful opportunity to take in the stunning surroundings from a unique perspective.
